Steve and Rebecca Devereux Sullivan Fund for Study Abroad
Established in 2018, grants of approximately $2,000 will be awarded for The Steve and Rebecca Devereux Sullivan Fund for Study Abroad annually to students participating in a Lawrence-affiliated or –sponsored program that are a term, semester, or academic year in length. Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Arts from Lawrence in 1982 with a major in history, where she was also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. During her time at Lawrence, Rebecca spent two terms at the Lawrence University London Centre (which was housed at the former Arden Hotel in Earl’s Court). She views the time she spent in London, as well as travelling within the United Kingdom and on the continent, as truly transformative and essential to how she sees the world today. After graduation, Rebecca returned to the Boston area where she worked in advertising at Arnold and then Ingalls in account management and then as Senior Vice President Human Resources Director. She has been an active alumna for Lawrence, volunteering as an admissions volunteer, class newsletter co-secretary and a member of the 25th Reunion Gift Committee. Rebecca is also a member of the Lawrence-Downer Legacy Circle, Lawrence University’s recognition society for donors who have put the college in their estate plans.
The goal in establishing this endowed fund is to create greater accessibility for students who would otherwise be unable to afford the university’s off-campus, international learning opportunities to study abroad, actively engaging academically, socially and culturally beyond the walls of a traditional Lawrence classroom. Due to this, preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need that are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
