Lawrence University senior Brock Daumler won first prize in the Wisconsin Alliance for Composers (WAC) contest for his composition, Via Negativa.

Marifé Entenza-Sierra, a global studies and studio art double major, is mixing entrepreneurship and art skills in building a capstone project focused on Sierra Leone.

Senior Lucy Croasdale created a jazz composition under the direction of Patty Darling in advance of Fred Sturm Jazz Celebration Weekend. It was performed by visiting student bands.

Sigma Colón’s teaching and writing have ranged from cultural geography and environmental humanities to histories of race and colonialism since coming to Lawrence six years ago.

Brian Piasecki, associate professor of biology, believes in learning by doing. He takes that approach into the biology lab as he collaborates on research with Lawrence students.

Tom McKenzie ’95 is the new director of Björklunden, Lawrence’s northern retreat. He has deep roots in Wisconsin and Door County, returning after spending the past 21 years in southern California.

Jacob Dalton '17 came to Lawrence to study theatre arts. Along the way, he fell in love with filmmaking and has now launched a film business in Los Angeles.

Hannah Jeané Jones ’22, now a first-year classical voice master’s student at Manhattan School of Music in New York City, is a cohort member in Denyce Graves’ Shared Voices program.

Natalie Fordwor ’12 has taken the interdisciplinary lessons learned at Lawrence and applied them to her business plan in Ghana, which includes a children's TV show.

Zachary Scot Johnson '06, a singer-songwriter in the Twin Cities, began posting a song a day on YouTube in September 2012. He's now done it for 10 years, with some well-known musicians joining him along the way.

Eric Simonson ’82 has carved out an impressive career in film, television, and theater, including winning an Academy Award. He points to Lawrence for preparing him for a life of exploration.
