Lawrence University senior Eli Elder has pursued a Bachelor of Musical Arts (B.M.A.) degree as a means to pursue his interests in both music and mathematics. The B.M.A. was unveiled as a degree option in 2019.

Joseph Carpenter, a Lawrence University junior studying mathematics and physics, is the recipient of a Goldwater Scholarship. He is the third Lawrentian to earn that honor in the past five years.

Ann Ellsworth (music), Julie Rana (mathematics), and Andrew Sage (statistics) have been awarded tenure at Lawrence University. All three will be promoted to associate professor at the start of the 2024-25 academic year.

Lawrence University sophomore David Smith sought a college path that would allow him to study math and physics at a high level while remaining immersed in music. He found just that at Lawrence.

Anmol Gupta ’18, Ada Stelzer ’21, and Sarabeth Brandt ’21 have been selected for prestigious fellowships in the NSF’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP), providing funding to support their research.

Junior Sela Dombrower used her growing Arabic skills to get the most out of her study abroad experience in Jordan. She studied in Amman for five months, writing blog posts of her experience.

Travis Dillon ’21 is the recipient of 2022 AMS-MAA-SIAM Frank and Brennie Morgan Prize for Outstanding Research in Mathematics by an Undergraduate Student. It's a prestigious honor for the student who is now in graduate school at MIT.

Doan Thu Thuy Nguyen '21 realized her passion for environmental economics at Lawrence University. Now she's been accepted to the doctorate program in Engineering and Public Policy (EPP) and will join the research team as a graduate research assistant this fall.
