
Inauguration Ceremony
A light-filled ceremony took place in Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 13, followed by a celebration in the Conservatory's Music-Drama building.
Lawrence is also celebrating the 175th anniversary of its founding. Join us Saturday, May 14th as we honor the shared history of Lawrence and the Fox Cities with a curated collection of presentations, performances, and gatherings across campus open to the community.
Academic Regalia
Delegates may choose to provide their own academic regalia, which can be mailed in advance to:

Delegates are also welcome to rent academic regalia.
Orders through this site will be mailed directly to Lawrence University for pickup on Friday, May 13. Rentals will be collected immediately following the Inauguration Ceremony and returned on your behalf.
Rental orders must be placed by April 8 to avoid the $20 convenience fee.

Get to know Laurie A. Carter
Carter comes to Lawrence after serving as president of Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, since 2017. Her tenure at Shippensburg focused on prioritizing student success, telling the university’s story, building a relationship with the community, and enhancing overall quality. Prior to Shippensburg, Carter served as executive vice president and university counsel for Eastern Kentucky University. Her extensive leadership experience in higher education also extends to the performing arts, including 25 years of service at The Juilliard School.

As a highly vaccinated community with standing practices and protocols built on trust and our Community Pledge, we are successfully living, learning, and working within the pandemic.
Lawrence continues to follow guidance from the CDC as well as our Pandemic Planning Team. COVID-19 vaccination will be required for all event attendees and masks will be required for all indoor events.
