Your favorite...

My favorite LU professor is Lavanya Proctor. She’s just amazing. She’s taught me ANTH 330, ANTH 210 and ANTH 430. She has a special way of teaching that forces every student to be fully engaged always. She has also helped me outside of the classroom with my personal struggles. She gets me.

My favorite class thusfar was African Immigrant Narratives. I learned so much about the black experience in a way that I had never learned before. It widened my perspective on blackness and everything it represents.

You can never go wrong with building a burger.

My favorite places on campus are Sankofa House, the Diversity Center and the gym in the Wellness Center. Those are places where I find the most peace and comfort.

I just love the people at Lawrence. There are so many amazing stories and great minds. I’ve met people who have impacted me in so many ways. I’m truly blessed to be in this space.

My favorite studying spot is in the basement of Sankofa.

At the moment, my favorite LU memory would be performing with my band on the LU-aroo stage. That was special.

Bernard singingWhat are you studying? Why are you studying this?
I’m and Anthropology major and Ethnic Studies minor. I am studying these fields because people are my passion. I want to impact people and ultimately the world. For me to do that, it is important that I learn how to understand the people who live in it and their experiences.

Outside of being a student at Lawrence what do you like to do?  Hobbies?
Outside of being a student, I like to sing, play piano, hang out with friends, and play basketball.

How have you benefited from donors while you are at LU?
I wouldn’t experience the Lawrence difference if it weren’t for the generous contributions of the donors. My time at Lawrence would not be possible without them. For this, I’m extremely grateful.

What does being a Lawrentian mean to you?
Being a Lawrentian means a lot to me. We are some of the most resilient, well–rounded people I have ever met. I’m glad to be a part of the family.

What are your plans for after Lawrence?
I will be pursuing my music career, possibly graduate school, and working in school and in my community through mentorship.

What clubs are you involved in at Lawrence?
I’m a part of Black Student Union, Sol Studios and Intramural Basketball.
