The Office of DEI develops programs in order to fulfill Lawrence University’s mission statement that demonstrate we are “committed to the development of intellect and talent, the pursuit of knowledge and understanding, the cultivation of sound judgment and respect for the perspectives of others.” Diversity is central to this commitment, and to the objective of preparing all Lawrentians for lives of engaged citizenship in our global society.

Employee Resource Groups (ERG)

The Office of DEI has developed programs for students, for faculty, for staff; we work with these groups and with our accomplished and diverse alumni in order to enhance the institutional and intergenerational knowledge of Lawrence. Many of these programs become staffed and resourced Offices and Centers under the IDEAS Division. Below are programs currently administered by the Office of DEI.

Viking Men United (VMU)

The aim of this program is to fortify the development of Lawrentian men by education, challenging, and supporting them through group and 1-on-1 interactions. Some key areas this program will address will be mentoring support, brotherhood circle sessions, and developmental sessions.
