Unable to attend class for one or two consecutive days

If you missed each class once due to illness or injury, you are responsible for directly contacting your instructors regarding your illness and to receive information regarding missed class work. It is up to your instructors to determined whether or not you'll be excused.

Unable to attend class for two consecutive days or missed an exam

If you have been ill and need to miss more than two consecutive days or an exam, you must schedule an appointment with Wellness Services to be seen by a nurse and/or doctor.

Hospitalized or need to go home

If you are hospitalized or need to go home due to an illness or injury, you or a family member is responsible for contacting either the Dean of Students office or the Center for Academic Success so that appropriate campus personnel can be made aware of a longer absence, and develop an action plan based on your circumstances.

Chronic Illness

If you have a chronic illness that may cause periodic absences, discuss your situation with the nurse and they will work with you regarding the best way to handle class excuses.

If you have any questions about a particular faculty member’s policy about absence due to illness, you should discuss it with the faculty member so that you are clear about what is expected of you.
