Joe is a strategic higher education leader who serves Lawrence University as its vice-president for university advancement developing philanthropic resources to support the university's students, faculty, facilities, and programs. Working with President Carter, the Executive Team, and the Advancement team, he is the school's strategic leader for fundraising and constituent engagement.
Emmick joined Lawrence University in December 2025, and brings over 28 years experience in advancement and over 22 years in senior leadership positions. His expertise includes strategic leadership, strategic planning, capital campaigns, board management, major gifts, and planned gifts. Prior to joining Lawrence he served in leadership positions at Wabash College, Elmhurst University, Kellogg School of Management, and Garrett Theological Seminary.
Joe and his spouse, Sara, will relocate to Appleton from the Chicago suburbs with their Golden Retriever Rocco and look forward to living in the Fox Cities. Their son, Will, is a freshman at the University of Kentucky.
