David Eliot Duncombe
Business & Entrepreneurship Program
Before starting to teach in 2017 as a professor, I had worked in business for almost 30 years. Twenty-seven of those years were spent at Kimberly-Clark, during which I managed many aspects of finance marketing. I was the HUGGIES Brand Director for Developing and Emerging Markets, where I led innovation and brand development programs globally. I also directed brand domain expansion efforts for both “high-end” and "bottom of the pyramid” customers. I was also involved in the market research and development of new products. One of my last roles at K-C was as a Global Pricing Director, where I led the expansion of pricing strategy and analytics capabilities throughout much of the world. Just before retiring from KC, I led a project in the US to transform KC North America’s revenue management practices.
I started teaching 9.5 years ago at UW Oshkosh, where I taught courses in Marketing Strategy, Analytics, and Research. I also have taught courses at Lawrence University in Global Economic Relations; Business, Society, and Government; and Pricing Strategy. Three years ago, I was a Fulbright Scholar in Helsinki, Finland where I taught a similar range of courses at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences to students from Finland, Russia, Vietnam, and all over Europe.
Teaching is a return to my academic roots. I earned my D.Phil. at Oxford University before staring my business career many years ago. More recently, I earned a Masters in Predictive Analytics at Northwestern University. I continue to enjoy exploring how to apply what I have learned in school and real life to all aspects of marketing and business.
