About

Bianca Pratte is an Instructor of Music at Lawrence University teaching Sight Singing, Aural Skills, and Music Theory. A native of Walnut Creek, California, she received her Master of Music from Northwestern University and Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees from Lawrence University. Her master’s thesis, “Schematic Longevity: Fonte and Monte in the Twentieth Century Neoclassical Style,” addresses the defining features of eighteenth-century compositional patterns used by Stravinsky, Debussy, and Ravel in the early twentieth century, commenting on the resilience and salience of these patterns despite the radical transformation of musical language during this time. This research was chosen for presentation at the first annual conference on Galant Schemata in Theory and Practice held by Yale University in October 2022. Besides teaching theory, Bianca is an active flutist, singer, and church musician in the Appleton area.
