A prison gymnasium might not immediately seem like the setting of a highly engaged audience and an inspired music performance, but students who have participated in these concerts feel that it has deeply changed their understanding of the importance and impact of music in all different walks of life. For some it has even re-lit the fire and passion of why they went into music in the first place.

These concerts take place with various groups of students traveling to prisons to perform concerts of diverse music styles and genres. The inception of this project was Professor Catherine Kautsky’s belief that all people, regardless of their current situation, deserve the opportunity to experience great live music, and to be remembered as human beings, worthy of experiences of beauty and hope.
