About

How has Lawrence shaped who I am today? This is a virtually impossible question, as Lawrence has defined almost every aspect of my being for the past decade. On one hand, it is hard to believe that it has only been 10 years since I first arrived on campus, as it is difficult to remember who I was before Lawrence. On the other hand, it seems like just yesterday that I fell in love with Appleton and the Lawrence community. Coming from New Jersey, I remember my hesitation in applying, auditioning, and even in attending the admitted students day (thanks for the push, Mom!)- why did I need to go to Wisconsin for college? But from the moment I stepped onto campus, I knew I was home. What I did not realize was Lawrence will always feel like home. Yes, you go to college to learn. At Lawrence especially, no doubt you will! And two degrees later, I can absolutely say I learned a lot. However, the biggest lessons Lawrence gave me were those outside of the practice room and classroom. The five years I spent at Lawrence encouraged me, pushed me, and strengthened me. I was given the freedom to explore any and every opportunity I could imagine- and given the ability to fail, to succeed, and to gain the confidence I needed to pursue my dreams. Most importantly, Lawrence taught me resilience, and allowed me to figure out who I am and who I am not.
