The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Matthew Arau, is an auditioned, high caliber ensemble that performs three to four concerts per year. Recent repertoire performed by this ensemble includes the Berlioz Symphonie funébre et triomphale, Arnold/Paynter Tam O'Shanter and Adam Gorb's Dances from Crete. The Symphonic Band is over 75% music majors but still provides a musical outlet for students from a broad range of majors outside the Conservatory. At Lawrence we believe that the ensemble performance experience should be available to all capable musicians, not just those studying in the Conservatory.
All large ensemble concerts performed in the Lawrence Memorial Chapel can be enjoyed around the world through our live, four camera video webcasts.
