Sophomore Luis Trejo discovered Lawrence through his high school choir director.

Originally intending to study music education, his time at Lawrence helped him discover a love for performance, leading him to eventually study both saxophone performance and government. In addition to his studies, Trejo enjoys participating in Greek life and intramural soccer on campus.

“The saxophone studio is very creative and the students perform at a very high level, which caught my eye,” he said.

Like so many others, Trejo is grateful for the wide range of academic opportunities at Lawrence, which has allowed him to grow in both the performance and government tracks. He says it is because of the professors at Lawrence that he was able to find the confidence to pursue both majors.

“With the wide variety of course subjects that are available to me regardless of my major, Lawrence helps me to invest in myself,” he said.

Looking to life after Lawrence, Luis is considering law school, but is also keeping grad school for performance in the back of his mind.
