John Shimon is a post-media artist known for creating museum installations including mediums such as painting, sculpture, antiquarian photographic processes, 16 mm film, and video.  Venues include the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, John Michael Kohler Art Center, The Milwaukee Art Museum, The Museum of Wisconsin Art, The Meadows Museum in Shreveport, LA, The Portrait Society Gallery of Contemporary Art, and Wendy Cooper Gallery in Chicago.  In 2016 Shimon was a featured artist at Photo Obscura, Penang, Malaysia.  His work is part of permanent collections at The Art Institute of Chicago, The Chazen Museum of Art, The Milwaukee Art Museum, The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, The Museum of Wisconsin Art, and the Illinois State University Rural Documentary Photography Collection, among others. Shimon's work addresses human existence in the Midwest. He is Associate Professor of Art and Film Studies at Lawrence University.
