Indian-American composer Asha Srinivasan draws from her Western musical training and Indian heritage to create her compositional language. Her music is regularly presented at national and international venues and has been cited in scholarly work. Her works are available at J.W. Pepper and recordings have been released by Ravello Records, Ablaze Records, Mark Records, Beauport Classical, and SEAMUS CD Series (vol. 22). In 2023, the National Flute Association commissioned her for the High School Soloist Competition, and in 2019, the NC NewMusic Initiative Commissioning Program selected her as featured composer. Her composition Svara-lila for chamber orchestra was commissioned and premiered by Alarm Will Sound at the Mizzou International Composers Festival. She has served as adjudicator for the Rome Prize and the National Endowment for the Arts, among others, as board member for the American Composers Forum, and as co-host of the 2012 SEAMUS national conference at Lawrence University.
