Lawrence University Piano Department Piano Day

Piano Day is an afternoon of activities designed expressly for up and coming young pianists interested in attending Lawrence.
Activities will begin with a guest lecture on Sunday, Apr. 22 at 3:00 pm m given by distinguished pianist, Dr. Thomas Lymenstull, a long-time faculty member at the Interlochen Arts Academy. Dr. Lymenstull ‘s students have gone on to win prizes all over the world, and he will present you with a time-tested approach to practicing in a talk entitled: "Practicing: so many aspects, so little time." Dr. Lymenstull’s lecture will be followed at 4:00 pm by a masterclass, featuring performances by three Lawrence piano students.
Admitted Students: After the 4:00 pm masterclass you'll have dinner with current Lawrence pianists in Andrew Commons, where you'll sample campus cuisine and fully imagine yourself as a future Lawrentian. The late evening will be free for fun activities or further conversation. On Monday morning, you'll have a chance to meet with Lawrence piano faculty members and visit classes during both morning and afternoon. Scheduled activities will end with lunch with piano faculty members, again at Andrew Commons.
There is no cost to attend.
Sunday, April 22
2:30pm - guests and students arrive at Harper Hall in the Music Drama Center
3:00pm - Guest lecture by Dr. Lymenstull in Harper Hall
4:00pm - Masterclass with current piano students in Harper Hall
5:00pm - Students staying overnight will drop off their luggage in the host student's dorm room, and meet at Andrew Commons for dinner. Parents are also invited to dinner!
Monday, April 23
Morning (exact times TBD): students staying overnight will have breakfast with their hosts, and return to the conservatory for private piano lessons and classes.
12:00pm - join the piano studios for lunch in Andrew Commons.
1:00pm - depart Lawrence!
