On Tuesday, July 28th, Björklunden will be one of many sites open to visitors for the Annual House & Garden Walk sponsored by the Door County Medical Center Auxiliary. Proceeds from the Garden Walk ticket sales will be directed to the Door County Medical Center Behavioral Health Campaign. Those interested in joining this event and benefitting the good work of the Auxiliary can find out more on the event webpage and the Door County House & Garden Walk's Facebook and Instagram.
Being a participant in this event is an honor and is giving Björklunden a major incentive to follow through on completing some garden development in front of the Studio, the Stabbur, and near Boynton Chapel. Visitors will be able to enjoy the historic Boynton Garden, where Door Shakespeare has performed for 30 seasons. They will also see how Björklunden is powered by the largest solar array in Door County as well as a 50kW wind turbine making it completely carbon free.
Irrigation hoses are being installed, and Barb Michaels, an avid garden volunteer at Bjorklunden, has salvaged several plantings in front of the Studio with plans to add many more.
Just the beginnings of a new garden concept in front of the historic Björklunden Studio.
This is a great opportunity in May and June for anyone who has a green thumb or a strong back to help in this garden revival. If this interests you, and you would like to become a volunteer at Björklunden, please share your interest by filling out this volunteer intake form. Thank you!
