Lawrence offers both merit-based scholarships and need-based aid. Click on one of the links below to apply for need-based aid.  

Need-based aid includes need-based grants, loans, and campus employment. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to determine your eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Student Loans, and Federal Work-Study. If you’re applying as a new student, you must also complete a Supplemental Financial Aid Application in order to determine your eligibility for a Lawrence need-based grant. Click on your student type below in order to review a step-by-step financial aid checklist and priority application dates.

How Your Financial Need is Determined

If your family is like most, you will draw upon a combination of savings, assets, and current income to finance your education. However, we understand that for many people, these resources are not enough to cover the entire cost of a Lawrence education. Our need-based financial aid program can assist in making a Lawrence education affordable.

“Institutional need” is based on two factors: the annual “Cost of Attendance” at Lawrence and your “institutional Expected Family Contribution (EFC).”

• Cost of Attendance consists of tuition, fees, room, board, books, transportation, and personal expenses
• Your institutional EFC is based on information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and supplemental financial aid materials

Institutional need is the difference between your Cost of Attendance and the your institutional EFC. Merit-based scholarships, grants, federal student loans, and student employment are all used to help meet your need.
