Program Overview
The East Asian Studies program at Lawrence combines the interdisciplinary study of languages, cultures, and the contemporary importance of Asia. Students explore a variety of topics through different disciplinary approaches, along with language study. Through coursework and off-campus studies, students articulate the relevance of Asia to broader contexts. Asia occupies an increasingly important place in the geopolitical landscape of the 21st century and our graduates engage meaningfully and successfully with this critical region.

Types of Degrees
Students can pursue a highly individualized Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies in one of three possible tracks, each focusing on a specific area of interest. Minors in Chinese and Japanese are also available, along with interdisciplinary options through related programs.
