Connecting to Collections Off Campus

Need to access our electronic collections from off campus? Current faculty, staff, and students can access licensed library resources (databases, electronic journals, etc.) from off-campus by going through an you’ll need to go through an authentication process through a proxy server. Fortunately, it’s easier than it sounds.

Databases

Interested in using databases such as JSTOR, Academic Search Premier, and others from off campus? Use the database links on the library’s electronic resources page. If you’re off campus, you’ll be prompted for your Lawrence network username and password. Once those are accepted, you’ll be sent to the database or resource.

e-Journals

e-Journals accessed through the library catalog or from the e-Journal search work the same way as connecting to a database. Once you have established a session, you will be able to select other databases or e-journals via the library site without logging on again.

VPN

Faculty and staff who use VPN (Virtual Private Network) software to work with campus files need to close the VPN application before using library links to electronic resources. If VPN is running, the proxy server will not authenticate your log-on for library resources, and database vendors will deny access to their databases.
