Heidi Johnston Ling ’83

Ms. Ling is an attorney, nonprofit advocate, and writer. Her professional as well as pro bono and non-profit advocacy has included intellectual property, education law and the rights of minors, elder law, corporate governance, voting rights, and women’s rights. While living in Southern California, she served on the boards of the Food Industry Council’s Development Committee for the City of Hope, Homeless Intervention Services of OC, Troy Tech Education Foundation, and on advisory councils and charter boards for several schools.
She recently returned to Wisconsin with her husband. Ms. Ling currently serves as the board chair of Northern Sky Theater and as an executive board member of the League of Women Voters of Door County. She is also a contributing writer and editor for several publications.
Ms. Ling earned a bachelor’s degree in English and German from Lawrence and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin; she is a member of the Wisconsin and California Bars.
While a student at Lawrence, she studied at the Lawrence London Centre, participated in Concert Choir, was the costume designer for the theater department, and served as a writing tutor, campus host, and assistant in the Admissions office.
