Appleton is alive with music as Mile of Music takes over downtown from Thursday, July 30 through August 2—and Lawrence is right at the heart of it. From campus collaborations to performances across the city, students, alumni, faculty, and visiting artists are coming together to share their work and connect with the broader community.
The festival presents an opportunity for community members and visitors alike to experience Lawrence in action while enjoying live music throughout Appleton.
Chamber Music Festival performances
Nearly 80 exceptional young musicians are spending part of their summer at Lawrence as participants in the Chamber Music Festival. Throughout Mile of Music, they will perform both on campus and at venues across Appleton, showcasing their artistry in a variety of settings.
Festival participants also will collaborate with visiting Mile of Music artists to create original arrangements, bringing unique performances to audiences throughout downtown.

Lawrence alumni will also be taking stages throughout Mile of Music. Festivalgoers can support fellow Vikings at performances across downtown Appleton.

Those looking for another way to celebrate the Lawrence community can stop by McFleshman’s Brewing Co., an official Mile of Music venue owned by Lawrence Associate Professor of Chemistry Allison Fleshman. The venue provides another opportunity to support fellow Lawrentians while enjoying the festival.
Lawrence community members can be found both on campus and throughout downtown Appleton during Mile of Music, creating opportunities to celebrate music, connect with fellow Vikings, and experience the vibrant partnership between the university and the Appleton community.
