A Letter from the Dean of Career Services
Dear Parents & Guardians:
Welcome to the 2012-2013 academic year!
As Provost Dave Burrows noted in the President’s Freshman Welcome event, “learning is like a climb up a high tower set in a beautiful landscape.” As you go higher, “you can form a more complete picture of the world out there.” Provost Burrows assured the students that while the climb is sometimes steep, there are people helping them each step of the way. The Career Services team is here to assist the students “form a more complete picture of the world out there” by providing a variety of offerings that prepare and expose them to Life After Lawrence NOW. We are pleased to share our Fall Term 2012 Career Services brochure with you.
In advance, thank you for your partnership by encouraging your student to:
- visit Career Services,
- participate in the annual Career Conference on October 13 which includes the various Lawrence Scholars and What to do with a Major in History/Psychology sessions, Young Alumni panel and a Gap Year Resources Fair,
- attend on-campus recruiting information tables and presentations and off-campus Think Globally, Explore Locally site visits and
- engage in training workshops.
In addition, for those of you in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area, we will be hosting Network New York which includes a networking reception for students and alumni on November 27th in New York City, followed by the opportunity to shadow someone in the workplace over the December break.
As always, if you have internship and/or shadow information which may be of interest to our students, please let me know.
I look forward to seeing those of you who will be on campus for Fall Festival, October 5 – 7.
All the best,
Mary Meany ’83
Dean of Career Services
