Locating Books in the Mudd Library

Books located in the main collection (3rd and 4th floors) can be checked out by all Lawrence students, faculty, and staff. For more on checking out books and many other library materials, see our Circulation page.

  • Our call number locations page lists where you can find your favorite subjects in the library. We use the Library of Congress Classification system.
  • Maps of the Library show detailed maps of materials, study spaces, offices, and more that can be found in the library.

Non-Print Books


The Mudd Library has access to the general EBSCO eBook Collection, as well as the Elementary, Middle School, and High School Nonfiction Collections. Access to these collections is restricted to current Lawrence students, faculty, and staff.

OverDrive Digital Library from the Appleton Public Library contains many popular fiction and non-fiction titles. An Appleton Public Library card number is required to download content. Lawrence students are eligible for a public library card by visiting the Appleton Public Library.

eBooks can also be found online at sites such as, the Internet ArchiveDirectory of Open Access Books, Google Books, and the HathiTrust.


The Mudd Library has a collection of audio books and other text CDs near the circulation desk.

The Appleton Public Library provides access to OneClickdigital and Overdrive audiobooks. They also have a collection of audiobooks on CD, Playaway, and other formats.
