The Second Annual ACM Student Film Conference and Festival

We are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Associated Colleges of the Midwest Film Conference and Festival to be held April 20-22, 2018 at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI!

ACMFILM showcases the best creative and academic work from student filmmakers, screenwriters, and scholars from ACM affiliated campuses, and provides a forum for students to exchange perspectives and learn from distinguished media artists and professionals.

Registration is free, and meals and lodging will be provided.

We invite submissions of:

Scholarly Papers: The Conference allows student scholars the opportunity to showcase their research on topics from a variety of theoretical, cultural and historical approaches to Film Studies and visual culture. We invite submissions of original 15 minute scholarly paper presentations on any aspect of Film and Media Studies. Foreign language papers are accepted.

Film, Video, & New Media Works: Works of any genre, length, and medium are accepted.

Original Screenplays: Screenplays of any genre/length are accepted. The top five screenplays will receive comprehensive written feedback from the panel of judges and a phone call to discuss the work directly from at least one of the judges. The top two screenplays will be featured in a staged reading at the ACM Film Festival and Conference.

To be eligible for selection, the primary contact on the entry form must have played a significant creative role and been enrolled in an ACM affiliated school at the time of production. ACMFILM encourages students to submit both course-related and independent works, and recent alumni are also encouraged to submit works produced while enrolled at an ACM school.

A selection committee composed of faculty and students from ACM member schools will program the festival and conference, and an independent jury comprised of distinguished media artists and professionals will recognize top submissions in each category.
