Accreditation requires that U.S. institutions of higher education undergo a periodic peer review. This review assures the quality of an institution and encourages continued improvement of the institution and its programs.

Lawrence University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (hlcommission.org), a historically regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Additional Accreditation and Licensure

The Lawrence University Conservatory of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (nasm.arts-accredit.org), the national accreditation agency for music and music-related disciplines. Our chemistry department and program are approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS) (acs.org) and students completing a chemistry major are ACS-certified. Lawrence's teacher certification is in accordance with Certification Rules PI 34 of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
