If you are a non-LU student looking for information about housing for summer, please refer to the bottom of this page.

As a reminder, all students approved as summer housing residents do not need to check out of housing at the end of the year.  All summer residents will remain in their current housing assignment until their assigned summer move-in date occurring June 6-12, 2018.

On-campus housing is offered to 2018-2019 continuing students who are employed at least 10 hours per week by Lawrence University, are doing paid summer research, or have an approved summer internship coordinated through Career Services. Summer housing is not open to graduating seniors. Failure to maintain 10 hours per week may result in eviction from housing. Housing will be assigned based on current and fall housing accommodations in combination with seniority of summery lottery number for rooms in Colman Hall.

Please plan to attend one of the following information sessions regarding summer employment/housing (all are held in the Cinema of the Warch Campus Center):

Wed, Jan 31 @ 4:30pm
Mon, Feb 5 @ 4:30pm
Fri, Feb 9 @ 1:30pm

Summer Housing Programs and Amenities

Please contact the Campus Life office with any questions.

  • Moving Shuttles will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.  Sign-up will be through the Campus Life office near move-in day.  Watch for an email for more information.
  • Shopping Shuttles will be provided.  Dates and times to be determined.
  • Summer RLAs - there will be at least three summer RLAs who will work the desk during the week day night, who can be a resource, and who can help with any policy issues or conflicts, etc.
  • No ADA Accommodations - we are unable to make specific ADA accommodations during the summer.
  • No Meal Plan occurs for summer, but Andrew Commons will be open at certain points during the summer for camps and conferences.  You can pay using cash or Viking Gold.
  • Campus Resources for the summer are limited, but more information will be available closer to summer.
  • Parking is available on campus over the summer.  Students may park in any 24 hour parking lot - first come first serve - and Faculty/Staff lots can be used how they are used during the year (can be used between 5:30pm and 7am the next day).
  • Conduct - we do not have the staff resources to handle conduct as we do during the regular year.  Housing is provided as a privilege over the summer.  If there are ANY conduct issues, we may ask you to leave campus for the rest of the summer.
  • Moves will occur right after graduation.
  • Off Campus Fall Term?  You will be able to stay in late summer housing until August 25, but you may need to move to a temporary space when students move to their fall term housing assignments.
  • Programming will occur throughout the summer (cookouts, snacks at the desk, etc.).

Non-Lawrence University Student Housing

We can provide housing for non-LU summer interns, on the following conditions:

  • Lawrence will contract only with employers of the interns, not with individuals.
  • Non-LU summer interns may be housed on campus only during our normal summer student housing period. For 2018, these dates are June 19– August 1. Non-LU summer interns may not move in prior to June 19 nor stay past August 1. This is to ensure that non-LU summer residents don’t displace LU students and that Facilities has 2 days to thoroughly clean all non-LU summer resident rooms before and after their stay.
  • Non-LU summer internship residents must be enrolled in a post-secondary degree program of some kind, or be completing an internship related to a degree they have just completed.
  • Non-LU summer internship residents must be at least 18 years of age.

Air conditioned housing cannot be guaranteed.

If your housing needs are able to fit within the above conditions, companies and businesses looking to house their intern(s) can contact Angie Bleck at angela.k.bleck@lawrence.edu.
