Where do students pick up their mail?
Students living on campus will be assigned a mailbox. Mailboxes are located near the mail room on the second floor of the Warch Campus Center. Students living off-campus can contact Mail Services to request a mailbox. Students can find their mailbox combination on Voyager: Go to the Personal Information tab - View Address(s) and Phone(s) link.
What is an SPC number?
'SPC' is simply an acronym for a mailbox and it's similar to a P.O. Box. You can use Lawrence's FIND utility to determine someone's SPC number. (Campus Life offers information on formatting an address with an SPC number; see the document Campus Addresses for Students.) To find faculty or staff SPC numbers, contact Mail Services for assistance.
Can I send international mail?
Yes, you can send mail to international addresses. Important: The letter or package must be unsealed when you bring it to Mail Services for processing. This service is offered Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Any rules regarding large LU mailings?
Large mailings to off-campus constituencies are processed (i.e., addressed, assembled, mailed) on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the mailroom. Note that materials created in the LU print shop will be transported to the mailroom early on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mailroom staff will ensure that materials are processed as scheduled and in accordance with U.S. Postal Service specifications. Added 8/2011
Can I have my mail held in the mail room?
If you are studying abroad or if you are taking a leave of absence, your mail will be sent to your home address. Under special circumstances, however, we will hold your mail in the mail room for a limited time while you are away. Please contact Mail Services for assistance.
Can I have my mail forwarded to another address?
Students should ask staff at the Registrar's Office (Brokaw Hall first floor) for help when they want a special address set up. Be sure to specify the address start and end dates for any forwarding addresses.
Can Mail Services provide packing materials?
We will gladly offer previously used packing materials that accumulate in the mail room. Please stop by or call us if you have specific requests.
I want to send a certified letter. How is that handled?
Mail Services can help you with certified mail, which provides you with a signature from the recipient, and with registered mail, which provides you with a return receipt with an identifying number. Contact Mail Services for more information.
Are there limits to the amount of personal mail I can send via Mail Services or to the size or weight of a package?
Generally speaking, there are no limits. However, very large items might incur added charges by the carrier. Call Mail Services if you have questions.
Can I buy stamps at the mail room?
You can buy one stamp or a bunch of stamps.
What forms of payment are accepted for postage?
You can pay using Viking Gold, cash, a credit card, or a check.
What is the schedule for delivery to faculty and staff offices?
Mail is delivered weekdays in the morning and afternoon to campus offices. Mail is dropped off at the Appleton post office mid-afternoon on weekdays. Hours of service may vary during summer, winter break, and staff vacations.
