Fencing Team Mission Statement


Lawrence University is one of the smallest schools in the nation to sponsor intercollegiate fencing. Members of the Midwest Fencing Conference, the Vikings compete in tournaments across the region against some of the best fencers in the country. Lawrence has one national champion to its credit as Mike Gattnar won the NCAA title in epee in 1995. The Vikings also had a four-time NCAA Championships qualifier in Jeff Peyton, who went to the national meet from 1998 to 2001.
