Seeley G. Mudd Library

Welcome, parents! Stop by the Mudd Library and take a load off. Make yourselves comfortable, wander around, grab a magazine or newspaper (in front of the circulation desk), relax in the Milwaukee-Downer room, use our wireless, sip some coffee. Enjoy our library!

Stop by Diversity Center to meet staff, engage in conversations, tour the facility and enjoy ice cream treats.

Parent Orientation Session, Life at Lawrence: Discussion with Student Affairs Staff

Stansbury Theatre (Music-Drama Center)

A question-and-answer session follows brief presentations by the vice president for student affairs, Nancy Truesdell,and members of her staff.

5–6:30 p.m.

President’s Welcome and Matriculation Handshake

Memorial Chapel

New students and family members will gather in the Chapel for the official campus welcome event. Following the program, each new student will be greeted by President Burstein.

Parent Orientation Session “Academic Success at Lawrence”

Stansbury Theatre (Music-Drama Center)

Geoff Gajewski, associate dean of the faculty for student academic services, and other staff members discuss Freshman Studies, academic advising, the curriculum, grade reports, tutoring and support services and services for students with disabilities.

10:15–11:15 a.m.

Parents and family members should attend one of the following sessions:

“Money Matters”

Youngchild Hall 121

Meet with finance and financial aid staff to discuss your student’s money management, campus employment, the billing process and financial aid.

“WELLU: Helping your Student Stay Well (and Well-Balanced) at Lawrence”

Multipurpose Room (Buchanan Kiewit Wellness Center)

This program will feature discussion and helpful suggestions as you support your student during the busy and sometimes stressful college years.

11:30–11:45 a.m.

Family Send-off

Memorial Chapel steps and lawn

Family members will have a chance to say goodbye to their student before the class photo and advising session for all new students begins.

11:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

President’s Farewell Reception

President Burstein’s home 229 North Park Street

Family members are invited to mingle and enjoy refreshments with President Burstein before departing campus.
