Utilizing Lawrence’s iconic North Woods campus on Lake Michigan, Björklunden, (pictured above) as a launchpad, The Outdoor Leadership and Team Building will leave campus for Björklunden and Door County for three days and two nights of outdoor leadership, team building and outdoor adventure activities.  Led by two student outdoor recreation club mentors new students will participate in a variety of activities such as a ropes course, climbing walls, a zip line and team building activities.  All activities are planned by outdoor educators and are designed for all skill levels.  The program will focus on working together more effectively, and is designed to assist with team collaboration, group communication, and success.  Plus, a whole lot of fun is built in.  Evenings will offer the opportunity to reflect on the days adventure, plan for tomorrow and learn from each other.  Some activities will include members of both outdoor pre-orientation groups.  A primary focus of the outdoor programs is to provide challenges that help you learn things about yourself that can be applied to your first year at Lawrence.

The Outdoor Leadership and Team Building Pre-Orientation Program will be limited to 12 first-year/transfer students, a six to one new student to peer mentor ratio.  All equipment will be provided and Lawrence’s Outdoor recreation Club can assist with personal gear as needed.  Daytime activities will take place primarily on the Door County Adventure Center campus.
