VCSC Student Employment
Did you know that the Volunteer and Community Service Center (VCSC) is the only department on campus to be almost entirely student-run? The VCSC is run by 30 student workers with the support of 1.25 professional staff members. A third of these students work primarily in the VCSC to promote volunteerism on campus, while the other 2/3 work primarily at non-profit organizations and schools in the Fox Cities community to support their missions and serve as a bridge between the community and campus.
All VCSC staff must have federal work study (not to be confused by campus employment).

Read what two students have to say about working in the VCSC:
"In my time at Lawrence, the experiences that stand out as the most memorable come from working in the Volunteer Center. I came to college interested in Economics/Business, but through working at the Volunteer Center I have changed my career path to focus on teaching historically underrepresented youth and fighting for educational equality. There is nothing better than working along side a group of people who are dedicated to volunteering and will do whatever it takes to make a difference in our community. I can’t imagine not volunteering every day and what career path I would be following if it wasn't for the Volunteer Center."
~Nathan Nichols-Weliky-Fearing '14, LARY Buddy/VITAL Program Coordinator 2011-2014
"What I'm most grateful about in my time with Service Corps is the opportunity it has given me to connect with both the Lawrence community and the Appleton community. Every time I go to work, I feel like I'm making a tangible difference in someone's life, and I know so much more about the needs and issues present in our community. Being able to connect other Lawrentians to tutor Appleton adults and actually seeing the change they make in another's life is extremely rewarding."
~Abigail Hindson '16, Service Corps Member at Fox Valley Literacy Council 2012-2014
