Launched in 2008, Lawrence Scholars in Business (LSB) is designed for students who are interested in distinguishing themselves as strong candidates for careers in the competitive world of business, including:

• banking
• consulting
• marketing
• arts management
• insurance
• international finance
• entrepreneurship
• investment management

Since the launch of the Lawrence Scholars in Business program, Lawrence students have taken trips to Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis surrounding areas to connect with alumni. In Chicago, students connect with alumni at Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Madison Dearborn Partners, Coyote Logistics, Deloitte, LBC Credit Partners, Inc., Industrial Council of Nearwest Chicago, Neuberger Berman, Abbott Laboratories, Navigant Consulting, Inc., Startup Institute (1871), McKinsey & Company, Inc., Northern Trust, and Allstate Insurance Company. In Milwaukee visits include Wells Fargo Bank Wisconsin NA, Heartland Advisors, Generation Growth Capital, Inc., Deloitte & Touche, and Robert W. Baird & Co., Inc.   In Minneapolis and the surrounding areas visits include RBC Wealth Management, Krista Tippett Public Productions/On Being, Optum and Gravie.

Lawrence Scholars in Business (LSB) Alumni Mentoring Program and Award!

Lawrence has the resources you need to help you secure cutting edge internships.

The new Lawrence Scholars in Business (LSB) Alumni Mentoring Program is offering support in preparing for and finding top business internship opportunities.

Fifteen students will be selected to receive training in a variety of aspects of business and support from a group of well-established alumni mentors in applying for internships.  Additionally, 1-3 candidates will receive funding AND mentoring to support their summer internships. This unique program integrates education and mentoring in business, interviewing and networking skills and support in finding internship opportunities.  For a full list and bios of alumni participants, please click here.

Note:  You will be required to attend a program kick-off in November to discuss program parameters.  The program involves some dedicated time outside of the classroom for readings and Career Services hosted events. 

This program is open to any student who, through an excellent academic record and extracurricular participation, has shown the right aptitude and aspirations to succeed in the highly competitive world of business. Application materials will consist of a resume, cover letter, letter of recommendation from one professor and the application attached here.  Materials are due to in Alumni & Constituency Engagement no later than Friday, October 6, 2017 at 5 p.m. Applicants will be informed of their status in early November.
