Worked with Circle K to collect non-perishables by going door to door for donations on Halloween.

TERM III

FEINSTEIN CHALLENGE 06

Advocacy Events:

Stick with it Campaign
Sent petitions to senators on the Affordable Housing Fund. Signed popsicle sticks, built houses with them, and took pictures to send to senators.
Results:
About 200 signatures to each senator

 

Uganda “Invisible Children Campaign”
Held a sleepout in Appleton with Circle K
Results:
15 students attended

 

Peace troops to Sudan Campaign
Signed postcards to send to President to urge the sending of peace troops to Sudan.
Results:
About 40 postcards/signatures

 

Awareness Events:

To the Streets Sleep Out
Participated in UW Madison’s sleep out to advocate the Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

 

Service Events:

Chicago Visibility Campaign
Students went on a Service trip to Minneapolis to learn about the hunger and poverty issues in the area.
Volunteered sites included:
-Salvation Army (serving lunch, organizing Hallmark closet)
-Cornerstone Café (soup kitchen and housing facility)
-Sarah’s Circle (women’s shelter)
-Café Too (restaurant/job placement program)
-Caring Closet (second-hand clothes)
Results:
About 12 students attended
