Description:

Started in 1972 at Villanova University in Pennsylvania, this week of coordinated activities has since become the nation's most widely organized hunger and homelessness event on campuses. Co-sponsored by the National Student Campaign Against Hunger & Homelessness and the National Coalition for the Homeless, Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week consists of a series of events designed to educate the campus community, increase community service, and build campus and community coalitions. More than 450 campuses and communities regularly participate in the week by organizing sleep outs, community service events, fasts, educational programs, and letter-writing campaigns.
