  • Open Jam
    6:30pm Warch Campus Center 224 - Esch Hurvis Studio (Esch)
    An open movement and music jam with special guest, Gabriel Forestieri. Come play, dance, and make music! This is a participatory event. This improvisational movement and music jam is open to everyone (all ages, races, genders, backgrounds, experience levels... all communities, all abilities, all identities). Everyone is a dancer, and everyone is a musician (whether you know it or not.) This is a space to try things out, to practice creating, to practice playing. You decide how you participate in a jam space. You may make sound/music, you may dance, you may bring an instrument, and/or you may observe. As long as you are respectful and safe, you may participate in any way you choose. There will be opening and closing circles (for introductions and shared processing) with a brief, optional, physical warm up to the space and each other led by Lawrence dance instructor, Margaret Paek. You can come and go as you please during the event. Leave your shoes at the door. Open Jams occur monthly. (mostly on third Sunday of the month, but please check the calendar.)

    Duo LaRo is comprised of a couple of revolutionary clarinetist ladies. Laura McLaughlin is based in Milwaukee and serves on the faculties of Carroll University and the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. She is also a founding member of the Chicago chamber group, Lakeshore Rush. Laura is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) and is committed to all things Eb clarinet. Rosemary Engelstad is Assistant Professor of Clarinet at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Rosemary is also into wellness and is a MovNat Certified trainer.
