Faculty development grants

Faculty can apply for small grants from the Office of the Provost to support faculty development. These grants come in two general categories:

  • Project grants: typically used for research, scholarship or creative activity; cost share on external grants; workshops or curricular development; and other sorts of exciting activities.
  • Travel grants: support professional travel for conferences and meetings.

Senior Experience awards

Lawrence has funds to support ambitious or distinctive projects that satisfy the Senior Experience requirement. Students can apply for a Senior Experience award of up to $3,000 to pay for materials, services, or travel necessary to complete a research study or creative work or to present such work at a professional meeting.  These awards are supported by several generous donor funds, including the George and Marjorie Chandler Fund for the Senior Experience at Lawrence, the Barbara G. Peterson Fund for Senior Experience in the Social Sciences, the Edward Byers Fund for Senior Experience, the Thomas A. Steitz Fund for Senior Experience in the Natural Sciences, and the Julie Esch Hurvis Senior Experience Fund for Studio Art.  Information and application forms are on the Senior Experience website.

Internal grant funds are limited; the sooner you apply and the more thoughtful your request, the more likely it is the Provost will be able to support your project.
