Symphonic Band performs on stage during a concert. The conductor stands in front gesturing with her hands and baton. The ensemble consists of middle and high school students playing wind and percussion instruments.Symphonic Band is open to dedicated woodwind, brass, and percussion players in grades 7-12; no audition is required. Band members should have at least two years of experience on their instrument. The ensemble provides students the opportunity to prepare and perform challenging band literature and promotes the development of accountability, patience, confidence, artistry, and community. Symphonic Band rehearses weekly and performs in November and March of each year with the Academy Wind Ensemble.

Symphonic Band is an appropriate first step for students who wish to play in the Academy Wind Ensemble, our auditioned, honors band.

Students registered for Academy ensembles are also expected to participate in a curricular (during the school day, for credit) performing musical ensemble when available; Symphonic Band should not substitute for curricular music programs.
