Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band provides dedicated woodwind, brass and percussion players the opportunity to prepare and perform challenging band literature. The ensemble is open to students in grades 7-10. Band members should have at least two years of experience. The ensemble rehearses weekly and performs in November and March of each year.

Academy Guidelines


  • Students will be assigned a folder with music that must be brought to every rehearsal. Students should also bring a pencil with them to rehearsal.
  • All folders and music are the property of the Lawrence Academy of Music and should be returned at the end of each semester or when the student leaves the ensemble.
  • Lost or damaged music will be billed at the cost of the complete score. 

Concert Uniform

  • Students should wear all black or black bottoms and a white shirt; no jeans, tennis shoes or excessive jewelry.
  • If a student wishes to wear a tie, they must wear it with a collared white long-sleeved shirt. Students may also wear suits or black sport coats.
  • Skirts/dresses should be knee length or longer when seated and non-patterned.

Electronics Policy

Cell phones, iPods, electronic readers, and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited during ensemble rehearsals and back stage during concerts.   If a family emergency takes place during a rehearsal or concert, please contact the ensemble manager.
