Advisory from The Legal Aid Society

On January 25, 2017, President Trump issued two executive orders which threaten immigrant
communities in different ways.  One focuses on individuals within the United States, while the other
focuses on individuals apprehended at the border. A third one, which has not yet been signed, focuses
on refugees and individuals from countries deemed dangerous by the President. Fortunately, none of
the executive orders include provisions restricting or ending the  DACA program.  In addition, some of
the provisions may be beyond the power of the President and so may later be curtailed by the federal
courts.
