Gifts in Honor & in Memory

Headshot of Eilene Hoft MarchOne of the ways donors honored Lawrence in 2018 was through an initiative focused on teacher appreciation. Lawrentians shared stories of the faculty members who impacted their lives and Lawrence and beyond. One testimonial in honor of Eilene Hoft-March reads:

“One of my favorite Eilene memories (of the countless ones I can share) stems from my freshman year. Being young, self-assured and your typical stubborn 19-year-old New Yorker, I thought I had my life figured out. For little to no reason at all, I thought I was going to have a business background. Before taking any classes at Lawrence, I'd already decided early on that I would major in economics. After three terms of complete misery, Eilene challenged me to seek a different path. She was UNRELENTING and to this day, I'm beyond grateful that she was. I found myself as a philosophy major and because of this I experienced a greater sense of joy, interest and excitement about myself and about life. Thank you Posse mom for ALWAYS being there, sharing both love and tough love in equal measure! Glad God put you in my path. Shine on Sunshine Lady!”                                                                                       –Eric Murray ’12
