“Looking back through the years, I have a lot of wonderful memories of Lawrence University. Playing on the first basketball team to post a winning record in over 30 years, playing in the baseball conference championship game, sweeping the Wisconsin Badgers in a doubleheader and being named to the baseball Academic All American team were athletic highlights. Surviving Freshman Studies, doing an independent research study program with Dr. Lokensgard, pulling an A in organic chemistry and being able to walk across the graduation stage twice (Bachelor’s Degree from LU and Master’s Degree from The Institute of Paper Chemistry) were great academic honors. But, the greatest memory by far was watching Ashley graduate in 2015. The combination of being a proud parent and all the great memories that came back were simply amazing.
None of these memories would have been possible if it were not for the generosity of alumni that graduated before me and gave back to Lawrence so generously. Now, it is time for us to give back to Lawrence so other deserving students can experience the same educational opportunity that I had almost 35 years ago.” – Terry Coenen ’84 and Chris Coenen
