In the 2016-2017 academic year, 702 alumni, through 45 volunteer opportunities, helped to:

  • Staff 100 college fairs

  • Organize 63 events around the country through the LU Clubs

  • Share 799 Class Notes

All of these efforts were led by the 37 members of the Lawrence University Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Lisa Hearld's face in a small circle.Lisa Orzepowski Hearld ’92

Lisa Orzepowski Hearld ’92 loves volunteering for Lawrence. A former marketing professional, Lisa now spends most of her time caring for her children and volunteering for various organizations, including Lawrence. Lisa has served on multiple reunion committees and has been an alumni interviewer since the inception of the program. Through interviewing prospective students, Lisa has made profound connections that have lasted long past admissions season. Read more.

Yang Hu's face in small circleYang Hu ’10

Yang Hu ’10 began volunteering for Career Services almost immediately after graduation. A senior consultant at Deloitte Consulting, Yang has hosted tours for the Lawrence Scholars in Business trips to Chicago and offered his advice to current students. As an international alumnus, Yang has a strong connection to international students and the unique challenges they face in the job market. This past year, Yang helped start a mentoring program for international students to be mentored by international alumni. Read more. 

Mary Jo Hibbert Powell's face in small circleMary Jo Hibbert Powell ’75

Mary Jo Hibbert Powell ’75 has been volunteering for Lawrence for decades. Having served as class secretary and on Reunion committees, Mary Jo has worked hard to keep her classmates connected with each other and Lawrence. When the new class leadership team model was rolled out last year, Mary Jo was one of the first in her class to jump on board and when she heard that the Class of 1976 had no class leadership team volunteers, she happily filled in. Prior to 2015, Katelin Richter Davis ’12 volunteered almost exclusively with the Career Services programs, hosting the Lawrence Scholars in Business trip to the Twin Cities and serving on career panels. However, for the past two years, Katelin has been serving as a core member of the LU Club of the Twin Cities committee. Read more. 


Terra Winston's face in a small circleTerra Winston ’00

As a member of the Lawrence University Alumni Association Board of Directors, Terra Winston ’00 has been a dedicated volunteer for Lawrence. Terra co-chairs the awards committee of the alumni board, which selects five to seven Lawrentians to honor with an alumni award each year. Through her service on the alumni board, Terra has renewed her connection with Lawrence and helped to reconnect other alumni with the university. Read more.
