Dear Lawrentians,

We have much to celebrate in Appleton these days. Thanks to you, Lawrence continues to offer a life-changing education to 1,500 students who join us from here in the United States and from around the globe.

I invite you to read our 2016 annual report, which describes some remarkable financial results. The 2016 fiscal year was our third-best fundraising year ever ($27.8 million), following our best year in 2015. Thanks to your support, we have raised more than $60 million over the past two years.

We also set a new record for the Lawrence Fund at $3.9 million, the third year in a row the fund has reached a new high. We are tremendously grateful to have such loyal alumni, parents and friends.

The good news goes beyond finances, though. We have welcomed new colleagues who will help us deliver an enriched educational experience.

Kimberly Barrett brings a wealth of experience to her position as our new vice president for diversity and inclusion and associate dean of the faculty. The Rev. Linda Morgan-Clement, our inaugural Julie Esch Hurvis Dean of Spiritual and Religious Life, connects our community across religious traditions and beliefs. Christyn Abaray, our new athletics director, is committed to helping our scholar-athletes succeed in the classroom and on the playing field. Monita Mohammadian Gray ’92 leads our new Center for Academic Success, which focuses on helping all students reach their full potential.

And, of course, we welcomed another group of driven, gifted and thoughtful first-year students this fall. They come to us from our largest-ever pool of applicants. We cannot wait to see what they will achieve at Lawrence and beyond.

Again, I thank you for all you do on behalf of Lawrence.
