Summer Institute for international students
The Summer Institute (SI) is held in the three weeks leading up to International Student Orientation and Welcome Week. This unique program is designed to introduce you to learning in the liberal arts tradition—a tradition Lawrentians have enjoyed since our founding in 1847—and provide you will invaluable skills and resources before beginning your first college course.
Spend these beautiful summer weeks engaging in intensive academic discussions, thesis-driven essays, and critical thinking about texts and lectures, earning 3 units of college coursework upon completion. In addition to preparing yourself to excel academically, you will also have the opportunity to adjust to life on campus before the rest of the freshmen class. Get comfortable with your residence halls and classroom buildings, learn to navigate your way around the amazing city of Appleton, and begin friendships that will last a lifetime.
Please plan to arrive on campus Saturday, August 17th. Summer Institute will officially begin on Monday, August 19th and run through Friday, September 6th, at which time you will attend International Student Orientation. Your American peers will join you after this time for Welcome Week, at which time you will fully join in for freshmen orientation.
