Transform Your Community
Lawrence is a welcoming community of intellectually-engaged learners who actively support those with whom they study and live. Involvement is a vital part of being a Lawrentian, whether with classmates, campus groups, athletic teams or local nonprofit organizations.
In addition to classroom instructors and faculty advisors, students rely on residence hall staff, counselors, peer mentors, coaches and student services staff to support their overall growth, development and learning. At Lawrence, we are intentional about creating opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, increased self-awareness and sense of purpose.
Lawrentians actively support other students with whom they live, study and perform. Collaboration is far more common than competition and students, staff and faculty celebrate the accomplishments of other members of the campus community as well as their own.
Engaged Learning often involves giving time and talent to improve the larger Appleton community in which Lawrence exists. Students have averaged more than 13,000 hours of community service each year since 2008.
Lawrentians measure their success by more than their work in the classroom. It is reflected in their efforts to transform communities both near and far.
