9 am - 5 pm - Conservatory orientation help desk open - also open on Wednesday from 8 am - 5 pm
1 - 4 pm - Services Fair - Campus offices and local businesses are available to provide information - held in the Somerset Room in the Warch Campus Center
4 pm - Cooperative Institutional Research Program - Each new student should participate in this brief survey
7 pm - President's Welcome and Matriculation Handshake in Memorial Chapel - New students and family members will gather in the Chapel for the official campus welcome event. Following the program, President Burstein will greet you and your classmates as part of the traditional welcome handshake.
Immediately following President's Welcome will be the residence hall welcome activities - an informal way to get to know your new residence hall community through activities, games, food and music.
Wednesday, September 11
8 am - 5 pm - The Conservatory help desk will be open
9 - 10 am - Student employment meeting - second meeting Thursday at 8:30 am, third and final meeting on Friday at 9 am
9 - 10:30 am - Conservatory placement exams
10:15 - 11:15 am - Life After Lawrence NOW! event - come meet the Career Services staff and learn how they can help you take steps to start your journey to Life AFter Lawrence NOW! A second session will be held on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
12:10 pm - Advising Session for all New Students in Memorial Chapel (followed by lunch with faculty advisors) - All new students are required to attend an address by the director of Freshman Studies in the Chapel, followed immediately by the advising luncheon where they will meet their assigned faculty advisor, schedule individual advising appointments, and discuss placement exams.
2:30 - 3:30 pm - The Way Things Work Around Here - New students are encourged to attend this session to get quick answers to FAQ's about life at Lawrence. Prizes will be given out! A second session will be held on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
3:15 pm - VIkings Pep Rally
4:30 pm - Men's soccer vs. Lakeland
9:00 pm - The Evasons: Marvels of the Mind - The Evasons bring their impressive combination of illusion and ESP to live audiences and television viewers throughout the world. Their slick blend of interactive demonstrations, comic relief, and spellbinding entertainment evoke laughter and hushed astonishment.
Thursday, September 12
9 am - 12 noon - Individual advising appointments with faculty advisors - required for all new students
9:30 am - 3:30 pm - Academic Information Meetings (AIM) - presentations and discussions about academic departments, inter-departmental programs and other areas of concentration.
1:30 - 4 pm - Welcome to the Mudd! Stop by the Mudd and meet the people who can help you succeed. Not only can you find out about the library, take a tour, signe up to win prizes, and enjoy some food - you can work on a jigsaw puzzle or bring your friends to play board or card games.
2 - 5 pm - All hall competition - Main Hall Green
7 pm - "Sex Signals" - Blending a unique confination of improvisational comedy and audience participation, "Sex Signals" provides a provocative, in-your-face look at college life and student issues.
8:30 pm - "Mandatory Ice Cream: Get the Scoop on your Residence Hall Community"
Friday, September 13
8 - 11 am - Individual advising appointments with faculty advisors - required for all new students
11:10 am - 12:20 pm - Freshman Studies class session - required for all new incoming freshman - your first college class!
Afternoon - Web registration as assigned - more information available in email sent to students after arrival on campus
7 pm - Ise Lyfe - Is Everybody Stupid (?) - This one man show is a multi-media interactive presentation and a detailed look into American apathy, disengagement and ignorance. Hilarious, daring, fast paced, at some points sad, but at all points truthful.
9 pm - Playfair! - This fun-fulled Lawrence tradition is an active session designed to help new students meet one another.
