If a structured organization or committee isn’t your thing, Lawrence also hosts a large number of campus-wide events that get you out and involved with your community in a multitude of ways. Some of the yearly happenings and traditions at LU are:
-
Fall Festival: Alumni, family and friends visit the campus for a weekend of reconnecting and tons of activities
-
Trivia Weekend: Lawrence plays host to the longest-running trivia contest in the world broadcast by LU’s very own WLFM
-
Convocations: Engaged speakers discuss relevant topics in our world that underline your liberal arts education
-
Winter Carnival: Recently reborn, it is a jam-packed weekend of wonderful winter fun – sledding, ice-sculpting, a winter-themed ball, and more!
-
Mardi Gras: Lawrentians can try their hand at Blackjack or just enjoy the sounds of the New Orleans jazz – the food and prizes are great too!
-
Zoo Days: Traditionally organized by Ormsby Hall community members, Zoo Days is a carnival-themed outdoor event on Main Hall Green with booths and tables that highlight activities from halls, student organizations and Greek Life. Carnival snacks are a staple as well with sno-cones, popcorn, and cotton candy leading up to the outdoor campus picnic.
-
LU-A-Roo: Lawrence’s very own music festival, LU-A-Roo, combines the best of local and on-campus music for a weekend of fun in the sun with sweet tunes.
