Edison Elementary School

The Lawrence Assistance Reaching Youth (LARY) Buddy program matches Lawrence students with Edison Elementary students to support the younger students both in and out of the classroom. Edison students benefit by having additional support academically, socially, and behaviorally. Lawrence students join their buddies in class, go to recess, eat lunch, go to the park, and otherwise enrich the life of their buddy. Lawrence students spend two hours a week with their buddies.

Boys & Girls Club of the Fox Valley

The Club is a safe place where kids and teens can come to enjoy themselves and their friends. Club members have the opportunity to learn, grow, give back to the community, discover their needs, set goals, and meet new friends. The Club offers an ideal environment for volunteers who love kids.

Building for Kids Children's Museum

The Building for Kids Children's Museum believes in building imagination, creativity, and confidence in our community's youth, from crawlers through age 7. As a non-profit children's museum, we accomplish this mission through providing a safe space for families to learn through play by exploring hands-on, educational exhibits, as well as curriculum-based classes for field trips, special programs, and family events.

Fox Valley Literacy Council

The Fox Valley Literacy Council is a non-profit organization located in downtown Appleton that provides free literacy and English language lessons to adults aged 18 and older in the Fox Cities area seeking to improve their literacy skills or learn to read, write, and speak in English.  Students come from diverse backgrounds and many different countries.  Today, this organization has 100 volunteer tutors and 140 adult learners, both English Language Learners and Adult Basic Education students.  FVLC has a constant need for long-term tutors who are committed to providing 1.5 to 2 hours of l

Habitat for Humanity

Brewster Village is a Short Term Rehabilitation and Long Term Care Facility where volunteers can go in and have opportunities to engage with the elderly, run the cafe, work with birds and ground crew, play board games with villagers, and work in the salon! Groups and clubs can come and organize their own events, such as musical performances, classes, festivals and dinners. Together with Lawrence University, Brewster Village hopes to bridge the generational gap by encouraging interactions by volunteerism.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Run the cafe, work with birds and ground crew, play board games with villagers, and work in the salon. Clubs and Organizations may also coordinate with Service Corp Rep to organize events.


Qualifications/requirements:

Students are required to complete and application to volunteer and pass a background check.

Time Commitment:

Time commitment is completely dependent on the volunteer.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

The mission of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is to improve the quality of life of individuals living with mental illness. The vision of the organization is to someday live in a community where mental illness is treated like any other physical illness. The effort is to connect people to people and to help those diagnosed with a mental illness and those in the community understand the physical problems behind disorders.

Riverview Gardens

Riverview Gardens is a socially innovative, self-supporting venture that engages Fox Valley residents in community stewardship of a market garden enterprise, community park space, and job training program while enhancing the missions of local outreach organizations and building financial resources to help address root causes of poverty, homelessness, and unemployment.

Brewster Village

Brewster Village is a short term and long term rehabilitation center. Together with Lawrence University they are looking to bridge the generational gap. Volunteer opportunities include Brewster Buddies (one on one visits with the residents) and Glamour Gals (group visits including makeovers). Both are great opportunitities for students to brighten the day of a resident.
